Deretopas.biz is a mostly empty website hiding a nefarious browser-based tactic. This method has been abused by countless other dubious websites and they all act in a virtually identical manner. Visitors who land on one of these deceiving websites are presented with deceptive messages designed to trick them into clicking the 'Allow' button. Anyone who does so will, in practice, be subscribing to that site's push notification service. 

Infosec researchers have observed numerous scenarios employed in this scheme. Some sites pretend that a video is encountering issues and cannot be played while others claim that a file is ready for download. The most widespread one, and the scenario used by Deretopas.biz, is to pretend to conduct a CAPTCHA check for bots. The site will show an image of a robot accompanied by the following text:

'Deretopas.biz wants to Show notifications

Click Allow to if you are not a robot'

If successful, the website will receive broad privileges that allow it to run an intrusive advertising campaign and generate monetary gains for its creators in the process. Affected users should use caution when dealing with the advertisements delivered by Deretopas.biz. After all, clicking on any of the advertising materials could trigger a forced redirect and lead the user to additional misleading pages.
